One of Turkey’s first specialty roasters, now thirty-five branches across the country.

Çağatay Gülabioğlu founded it in Galatasaray in 2012, roasting in-house on a one-kilo Toper Cafemino. Chef Mehmet Gürs became a partner around 2013, and by the time Fresh Cup visited in 2014 the roastery had moved to a converted test kitchen in Atatürk Oto Sanayi with a Loring S15 Falcon, roasting for Gürs's restaurants, Mikla among them. Gülabioğlu has since sold the company.

The branches now reach Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Konya, and Sakarya, with more than three hundred staff. Current single origins include Kenya Gakuyu-ini AB, Rwanda Huye Mountain, Peru Huabal from above 1,800 metres in Cajamarca, and Guatemala Female Growers.

On Prof. Dr. Orhan Ersek Sokak in Teşvikiye, a black shopfront with backlit KRONOTROP COFFEE lettering opens onto the pavement, with a wooden bench along its front. Inside, a black steel staircase climbs to a mezzanine behind a counter tiled in white subway brick with a red stripe. Grey armchairs and a leather banquette sit at low tables, with pothos trailing from the pipework overhead.
